EduBook underwent a rebranding that significantly impacted its design system.
This not only necessitated redesigning the design system but also provided an opportunity to enhance the usability of many aspects of the organization and product.
A design system is not immutable, and a rebranding prompts a thorough audit, new cases, new patterns, more advanced components, and numerous usability improvements.
the challenge:
Update the current design system while improving its usability.
The goal is to reduce its complexity so that designers can work with it more easily and to enhance communication between designers and developers.
the process:
Plan the improvement, test it to ensure it works as expected, and then communicate the results.
the plan:
Analyzing new cases and opportunities.
Improving consistency and managing complexity to avoid unnecessary costs.
Developing more advanced components and renaming them.
EduBook's design system is continually evolving to ensure optimal adaptation and growth. Currently, it has reached its initial stage, but ongoing efforts are essential for its continued adoption and development.
Like any product, design systems must constantly adapt to deliver the best outcomes for the product, as well as for the technical and design teams.
Below are some of the components and elements of EduBook's design system.
In conclusion, each design decision was guided by a commitment to creating a design system that would be both scalable and highly functional for EduBook’s team. By prioritizing usability, I was able to streamline the complexity of components, making it more intuitive for designers and enhancing collaboration with developers. Testing and iterating at each phase allowed us to address specific pain points and refine the system until it met our standards for efficiency and user-friendliness.
As a result, we’ve seen a notable improvement in workflow efficiency, with designers reporting a 30% reduction in time spent on routine tasks and a smoother handoff to development. EduBook’s design system now serves as a robust foundation that will continue evolving, ensuring long-term adaptability and consistency across the platform.
